Step 1

Install HTC vive and SteamVR

Essential stage

To set up your HTC VIVE materials, please refer to the installation documentation: Guide
To install HTC VIVE and SteamVR on your PC, the best is to watch the video tutorial

Once done, make sure that the HTC VIVE is properly connected and activated using «Vice room configurator», clicking on the little arrow next to «Steam VR».

Step 1

Once done, make sure that the HTC VIVE is properly connected and activated using «Vice room configurator», clicking on the little arrow next to «Steam VR».

Setting up Meshroom Studio

A quick installation

As part of the Meshroom VR Studio purchasing process you will have received two elements:
- a download link
- a activation key

Click on the link received to download the first file.
Once download, please extract the installation files from the ZIP file named «setup_install_meshroomVR_autoextract.exe»

 

Double click on «setup_install_meshroomVR.exe»
Follow instructions to install.
Meshroom VR Studio is now ready to be used.

Launch Meshroom. An activation screen will appear. Put your activation key (the «-» characters included) by using the CTRL C / CTRL V or right click then copy/paste.
Click on activate.
Enjoy!

Step 3

File import

Drag'n'drop your 3D object

Meshroom Studio actually uses polygonal format to maximise Speed and VR experience quality.
.OBJ, .3DXML, .FBX, .STL, .DAE formats created from your traditional CAD software are in the box! 

In project selector, select new project, load project or open a recent project.

For a new project, just drag’n’drop your 3D file and click on « next steps« .

Use the arrows to rotate the object and find a first position for the VR. Then click on « next steps« 

Validate the right unit (mm, cm, inch, foot, meter) used to enseure the scale 1:1. Then click on « next steps« .

Material drag'n'drop

Enhance your 3D projects

Painting of bodyworks, composite, textile, metals, glass... Get materials in library and edit each part on your 3D project with the drag'n'drop.

In the right side, you have a material library. Select one of them and drag’n’drop this one on a ball. Each ball  is a part of your object.

 

To orientate your object, hold the left click then turn it as you wish. 
To zoom on a specific part, press shift + mouse wheel. (or use the pad with 2 fingers)
To change the position, hold the right click and move your object.

Edit the sun orientation by holding the left click on the button with sun icon. Then move on right or left side to change.

Step 4

Material drag'n'drop

Enhance your 3D projects

Painting of bodyworks, composite, textile, metals, glass... Get materials in library and edit each part on your 3D project with the drag'n'drop.

In the right side, you have a material library. Select one of them and drag’n’drop this one on a ball. Each ball  is a part of your object.

 

To orientate your object, hold the left click then turn it as you wish. 
To zoom on a specific part, press shift + mouse wheel. (or use the pad with 2 fingers)
To change the position, hold the right click and move your object.

Edit the sun orientation by holding the left click on the button with sun icon. Then move on right or left side to change.

Material Creator

Unleash your creativity!

In the material editor, click on the button "Create new material"
Drag your own texture directly from your PC and optimize it (brightness, contrast, scale, reflection, roughtness ...)

From your PC, drag your texture (.png .jpg) directly on the color map, reflection map or bump map.

On the texture image, you have 4 options thanks to 4 icons : rotate, move, zoom or delete the texture.

Below the texture image, you can edit different parameters to create your material.

Click on « Save » to store your new material.
Choose a material category or click on « + add a new category ».
Write the name of your material then click on « Save«

In the material editor, click on the button "Create new material"

Select the appropriate showroom (sea, industrial, studio ...) for your object or create showroom from HDR picture. You can also import your own HDR picture.

To enter VR navigation, click on "Go VR"

Select the appropriate showroom (sea, industrial, studio ...) for your object or create showroom from HDR picture. You can also import your own HDR picture.

To enter VR navigation, click on "Go VR"

Step 7

VR Navigation

Move freely around or inside your object

 Walk, bend, get closer... Use teleportation for larger distances. Set your altitude by using elevation panel. Grab and handle your object as well and look at it your object from any angle.

Pressing the Teleport button will generate a blue teleportation Beam. Keep the button pressed and move the handle until the end of the beam is positioned in the place you want to be teleported. Releasing the button will execute teleport you to that point.

 

This button looks like a trigger. It is used to either activate an element or grab one. For instance it can be used in Normal mode to grab and move the object, or in the Edit material mode to grab a material ball and move it to a different place (Edit material table or texturing table). The release of the button will cause the end of the grabbing.

Secondly, this button can be used to activate elements such as the virtual “saved level” buttons, the “save elevation” buttons or grab the up/down handle in the elevator mode, or turn left and right the texturing table in the Texturing mode.

VR Navigation

HDR / Material drag 'n' drop

In the HDR editor, drag'n'drop your own HDR image and improve it with our editing table (Sun, shadown, light ..).

In the material editor, drag'n'drop material balls on the part of your object what you want to change.

By pressing the button 3 “Tools menu”, you will see the HDR tool on the left of the tools table. Select it and enter the HDR configuration menu.

You can also select the Sun light option on the table.

And change the different parameters for the Sun light : On/ off, position in the sky, color,…

The Showroom settings will be automatically saved when exiting the editing mode by pressing button 3.

By selecting the texturing tool, one can access the material library and the texture editing table.

Drag and drop the material balls to the “Your material here” area.

And start changing its parameters.

Depending on the material youplace on the edit table, the sliders will be different. You can then modify the characteristics (colour and others).

When pressing the Vive Menu button while in VR mode, the elevation panel will appear. Use the trigger button to grab the handle or to activate any of the buttons on the elevation panel.

The buttons on the virtual controller can be used to save permanently a height in one of the three available slots, allowing to save relevant levels for a specific model.

In the HDR editor, drag'n'drop your own HDR image and improve it with our editing table (Sun, shadown, light ..).
